Why I am running for Yucaipa City Council

I am running for District 1 City Council because Yucaipa succeeds when we focus on common sense, responsible spending, and respect for the community we already have.

Many of us chose to live here because of how Yucaipa is today — a well-run city with a small-town feel — not to see it become the next dysfunctional city driven by poor planning, warehouses or unchecked growth. I believe in fiscal discipline, thoughtful land-use decisions, and protecting our neighborhoods and local businesses from development that doesn’t fit our community. By working together as Yucaipians, not political factions, we can preserve what makes this city special while ensuring it remains financially stable and well-governed for the future.

I believe in fiscal discipline, transparent decisions, and long-term planning that protects taxpayers. Growth must serve residents—not outside interests. Massive warehouses and incompatible development threaten Yucaipa’s character, traffic, air quality, and small-town culture—once lost, it can’t be reclaimed. If we stay focused on accountability and thoughtful growth, we can protect the city we call home.

I was born and raised in Yucaipa, growing up in Dunlap at Avenue A and 14th Street. I attended Dunlap Elementary and was part of the first graduating class to walk the field at Yucaipa High in 1995—alongside my then friend and now husband of 21 years, Robbie Ramirez. Yucaipa isn’t just where I live—it built me.

My father, Chuck Brammer, served on the town council before incorporation and believed in showing up as a dedicated sports dad. My mother, Gracie Brammer, was the loudest in the stands and active in every PTA long after we’d moved on. Service, community, and pride in this town are part of who I am.

I’m seeking the District 1 seat because I believe in conservative, responsible growth. A strong city manages its finances wisely, supports public safety, and uses tax dollars efficiently. Development has a role—but it must be strategic, community-focused, and protect our infrastructure and character.

Yucaipa should never be shaped by outside priorities, but by thoughtful planning, fiscal discipline, and leaders who listen. If we stay focused on balance, accountability, and working together, we can protect our small-town culture while keeping Yucaipa strong for the future.
